GPS on The Golf Course..

Thursday, February 1st, 2007 by Tim

One of the more difficult challenges a golfer comes up against on a golf course is being able to accurately  judge their distance from different parts of the golf course. Not only is distance important in knowing how far you are from the hole, but knowing how far different parts of a fairway are and managing your game. Using a golf GPS unit can give a person a little edge in judging distances.

Lets look at one example, you are standing in a fairway, there may be a marker letting you know you are 150 yards to the center of the green. However, if there is a water hazard in front of the green, it will help to know how far you have to hit the ball to at least clear the lake or how far it is to the front of the lake to keep your ball from getting wet. A golf GPS unit with that particular course available can help you determine which club to use in which circumstance. If your golf game is anything like mine every little bit helps.

Of course, using a golf GPS unit will only be as helpful as the golfer is good. Knowing you are standing 136.2 yards from the center of the green will not help you hit the ball straight or keep it from flying into the water or sand trap on either side of the green, but a golf GPS unit can help you find out how far into the woods you hit the ball.

GPS in your Luggage?

Thursday, February 1st, 2007 by Tim

Keep track Of Anything

You can track virtually anything you want to since the size of GPS locator units have grown significantly smaller in the past few years. Even Your luggage can be tracked if it goes one way while your going another. You will  not have to wait for the airline to try to locate it for you. While it may not get it back to you any faster,  a GPS locator inside your suitcase will let you know where it is located .

Its in the Rent a Car

Rental car companies who only provide vehicles for operation in certain states can use the GPS locator units to track any vehicle that may have ventured out of their authorized area and appropriate charges can be applied.  While many claim this practice is an invasion of their personal privacy, courts have held that the rental company is the legal owner of the vehicle and has all legal rights to know its whereabouts at any given time.

The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a sequence of twenty four satellites, which transmit data to so that the GPS receivers here on earth can collect information from several satellites at a time. With this information, the receivers can pinpoint their location by a process similar to triangulation,

In the last few years, the general public and consumers have started to hear more and more about the benefits of owning a GPS system. The network of Global Positioning Satellites was first developed in the 70s by the US government. At that time it was for the Military purposes.
